Operion is a Zoho partner and sets up Zoho Billing for SMEs that invoice customers on subscription, per period or by usage. Zoho Billing was formerly called Zoho Subscriptions.
What it does
With Zoho Billing you record products and subscription plans, and the program creates the invoice each period. You can work with fixed amounts, an amount depending on the number of users or based on usage, with trial periods and with changes in the middle of a period.
Customers can pay through a payment provider, and the program sends reminders when a payment fails. In a customer portal, customers see their subscription and invoices.
Who it is for
It suits SMEs with recurring revenue: software, maintenance contracts, memberships or monthly services. It fits best when you now copy invoices by hand or track in a spreadsheet what renews when.
If you mostly invoice one-off orders from stock and purchasing, that belongs in your ERP and Zoho Billing is unnecessary. See below.
Set-up
These are the choices we make with you during the intake:
Which subscriptions you offer and how you build prices, periods and discounts.
When invoices are created and sent, in advance or afterwards.
Which payment methods you offer and what happens when a payment fails.
How a customer changes or cancels a plan and how you handle remaining amounts.
How VAT on subscriptions is calculated, including for customers in other countries.
Connections
With Zoho CRM, a won deal starts a subscription directly, and with Zoho Books the invoices reach the accounts. Zoho Billing has no full bookkeeping of its own, so the ledger side always sits in another program.
If you use another accounting program, we look in the intake at how the invoices get there, through an integration or an export.
Which integrations exist and which do not is explained on integration.

If your accounts and trade run in Uniconta, we first look at whether recurring invoices already fit there. For a small number of fixed contracts, an extra program is often more administration than gain.
Zoho Billing becomes interesting when subscriptions are the heart of your revenue and you need plans, trial periods and payment reminders. There is no integration with Uniconta; how the invoices then reach your accounts, we agree in advance.
Licences
The licences and current prices of Zoho Billing are on the Zoho pricing page. During the intake we decide which plan fits you.
